What is the Lake Worth Beach Street Painting Festival?
The Lake Worth Beach Street Painting Festival is a free two-day festival each February in which hundreds of artists turn the downtown streets into a giant chalk-art museum. Billed as the largest festival of its kind, it draws 100,000+ visitors with live music, food and family activities.
About the event
Street painting dates back to 16th-century Italy, and for more than three decades Lake Worth Beach has celebrated the tradition in a big way. Artists use chalk to transform Lake Avenue, Lucerne Avenue and the lettered side streets into original works and recreations of masterpieces — which last only until the next rain.
Beyond the art, expect several live music stages, a festival food court, a dedicated kids' area and plenty of downtown restaurants and shops open all weekend. Admission is free.
Roads in the downtown core close for the weekend. Arrive early, use the free shuttle parking when offered, or bike in.
